Meet Sage

Introducing Austin Chesapeakes Smiling Sage . . .

Sage is the newest member of our Chesapeake family, coming from Aspen’s very first litter in Spring 2025. Watching her form such a deep bond with her mama has been incredibly special—they are practically inseparable. Sage follows Aspen all around the house, happily curls up for cuddles, and has clearly inherited her mom’s love language of fetch.

She truly fit into our family like a perfect puzzle piece from the very beginning. Not only that, Sage has a really great smile—and she’s never shy about showing it. We first noticed her smiling as a five-week-old pup, but we certainly didn’t expect it to become her signature look. She has so much love to give and just as much enthusiasm for receiving it. Sage wants to be part of anything and everything she finds interesting, which often results in her confidently climbing into your lap while you’re trying to get work done… even though she is most definitely not lap-dog sized anymore. In fact, she’s already passing up her mama in size—but that doesn’t stop her from trying.

Sage lives up to every Chessie expectation and somehow exceeds them at the same time. She adores swimming and playing in the water, which led us to buy her a kiddie pool of her own. Temperature doesn’t matter—if there’s water nearby, she’s ready to dive in.

As we plan to breed Aspen in Spring 2026, we’re excited to see how Sage adjusts to her role as a big sister for a few months. We feel incredibly blessed to have Sage as the baby dog of our household and are so grateful for the joy, laughter, and love she brings to our family every single day.
